It completely beats me as to why people get their pictures taken with celebrities or even want to meet them. I can understand that you may greatly admire a particular actor, may have grown up watching him don his many avatars in the movies. You may even know every voice modulation he is capable of and every twitch of his facial muscles. His persona many be as familiar to you as of your own blood relative.

Yet why would you want to contact him personally? He would not know you, would not remember even a molecule of your face the moment after he agrees to have his picture taken with you. And you can’t blame him for that. You are but one of his millions of admirers and if he tried to know and relate with each one of them on a personal level, he would have time for nothing else in his life.

Plus you don’t really know the person, just a carefully nurtured persona. For all you know the hot stud you admire on screen, may actually be suffering from erectile dysfunction! It’s hardly likely for him to share that with you. Would you do it, if you were in his place? What pleasure can you possibly derive in watching him have his lunch. He may have shocking table manners. Let him be.

Consider another factor. Your over the top adulation gives the person a swollen head and he starts behaving obnoxiously with the people around him. You are actually doing the person a favour. If you ask me it’s best to live with the ideal image you have of your hero or heroine. As far as I am concerned whatever little I have seen of these celebrities I would not like to appear within 500 meteres of them if I could help it. With their warped sense of reality, and their retinue of lackeys orbiting around them like planets around a sun, and their deep rooted narcissism I can only sense a deep spiritual malaise or dare I say even a physical one.

I say, stay clear of celebrities of any kind! Be your own celebrity. Do things that you enjoy doing. Go on a bike tour in the Himalayas or write a book about your home town. Revel in your own sense of worth, and never get a picture taken with a celebrity, leave alone hang it on you bedroom or living room wall.
